Blue and White Jewelry Wear

I'm still recovering from my annual trip to  Las Vegas;  it's taken me three days to get my sleeping patterns back on track and detox from the overindulgence of booze and food.   I love holidays,  but I'm always glad when I get back home to my funny lime green house and my two bad cats.   I've been playing catch up all week, so without further ado I'd like to present this week's featured Etsy Artist : Blue and White Wear Jewelry

I am green with envy after reading this blog: http://www.bluewhitewear.blogspot.com/ which accounts the amazing life of an American Expat living in Bangkok Thailand.  A recent post says she will soon be moving to Santiago Chili so I wonder what new jewelry styles will be in her store after the move?

Right now her Etsy Store is full of exotic semi precious stones and Thai beads with a special focus on the blue and white porcelain Chinese beads.

I love this Shanghai Girl Necklace -  delicate portrait of a pretty Asian girl painted on this broken porcelain chard.  Hand strung with amethyst chunks and purple glass beads.  Only $16.00 including International shipping.

Bold and fun Chinese Chop Suey Bracelet with every color imaginable.  A focal bead of Chinese blue and white porcelain with carnelian, coral, agate, turquoise, smoky quartz, and azurite.  $22.00

Spring 2010 Fashion Trends - Lingerie Dressing

Every designer seems to have some variation on this lingerie as outterwear trend for Spring 2010.  Ultra sheer fabrics, lotsa lace,  whispy tap pants, bras and corsets worn on top of sheer blouses, and mini length sheer crinoline skirts.   It's a great look on the runway and in a fashion editorial but how does this translate into the real world?   Better yet,  how can we get this look with vintage lingerie without spending designer prices?

I love how this woman pairs a vintage slip over a modern T-shirt and boots.
It's very soft and romantic but still has a bit of an edge.  Super easy and comfortable too.

LoveMaegan from Chictopia wears a vintage 40s slip bloused over a belt to make it shorter.  The fitted modern blazer and gladiator sandals make it modern.

Another Etsy favorite is Shrinkle who takes wearing lingerie as clubwear to a whole different level.

This Lacy Yellow Slip is to die for!  Bust 40 inches, $40.00
Check out Shrinkle's new line of super pigmented eyeshadows, Sugarpill

This may be a little too sheer for the faint hearted to wear as a dress,  but it would make a sensational layering piece.   Vintage 60s red nylon slip, St Michael, 34 inch bust  $35.00

Etsy Artist Spotlight: Nevita

Well I've decided to ignore the fact that it snowed today and pretend it's already Spring! After being spoiled with possibly the mildest Winter ever, today I was brought back to reality with nasty bloody snow.....  not much, but enough to knock the blossoms off the Japanese plum trees and now my daffodils are shredded.  WTF?!
If a never ending Winter is getting you down,  cheer up with this charming Bulgarian tradition to celebrate Spring courtesy of Nevita
Martenitsa are adorable red and white yarn decorations worn tied around the wrist or pinned on your clothes from March 1 until the end of March (or the first time you see a stork or a budding tree).
Bulgarians exchange and wear white and red tassels or small dolls called Pizho and Penda. In Bulgarian folklore the name Baba Marta (meaning Grandma March) is related to a grumpy old lady whose mood swings change very rapidly. The old Pagan belief is that by wearing the red and white colours of the martenitsa, and asking Baba Marta for mercy you would make Winter pass faster and hasten Spring. Many people wear more than one martenitsa. They receive them as presents from relatives, close friends and colleagues.
The stork is considered a harbinger of spring and as evidence that Baba Marta is in a good mood and is about to retire.

Nevita also sells some wonderful hand knit scarves.  I really like this airy pastel scarf  because it's so light and feminine and could easily be worn when the weather warms up.

Nevita specializes in hand knit garments and seriously amazing handmade gobelin tapestries
