The incomparable Marilyn Monroe in a black slip.
Well, after a long break from blogging this summer I am back, and today we're looking at slips!
Every woman needs at least one fabulous black full slip in her wardrobe and if you're like me one is never enough. Slips from the 40s to early 60s are my favorites because they offer outstanding curvaceous designs that are just not found in modern lingerie. The best are made from sleek rayon or silky sheer nylon tricot and have outstanding embellishments like lux lace, crystal pleats, ribbons or appliques.
Take a look at this incredible example by Deena; I've never come across another one like it! It's truly a masterpiece of vintage lingerie! Sheer and silky nylon tricot and sheer lace with one of the flirtiest hems I've seen.
This 40s Vanity Fair slip is worthy of any pin-up girl. Curve hugging lace with satin appliques.
If simplicity is more your style, how about the cool touch of vintage rayon in this elegant 40s slip by Slip-n-ality. Wouldn't this make a spectacular cocktail dress?
Empress Jade Vintage always carries a wide selection of vintage full and half slips (including the three above) in our Ebay Store
And I leave you today with a photo of Sophia Loren in a black slip.
